Introduction
During the first quarter of 2002, the Computer Center of the Department of Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki undertook the task to implement a Certification Authority (HellasGrid CA), in order to facilitate the needs of Grid Computing in Greece.
In January 2003, the National Grid Initiative, named "Hellas Grid Task Force", was established by the Secretariat for the Information Society, Ministry of Economy \& Finance under the coordination Greek National Research & Education Network - GRNET. GRNET is owned and supervised by Secretariat of Research and Technology, Greek Ministry of Development.
The HellasGrid Root CA is operated by the GridAUTH Operations Center at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under the supervision of Hellas Grid coordinator.
